I know it sounds funny but it’s true. My Dad’s a Mechanic and I am not. Dad is always having me help him fix his cars; I’m really just a “Go-Fer”, I go for a wrench, I go for a part, I go for a socket.

It’s the “go for a wrench or socket” that I have the most problem with. I can’t tell the difference between the Metric 12 and 1/2 inch sockets. They all look the same to me.

I seem to be always confused and I get the sockets mixed up, especially all those tiny 1/4″ drive sockets.

A shiny coat on a dog means more than just looks and good dog grooming, although it certainly begins with that. Take a look at your dog, does he have a shiny healthy looking coat?

Dog training mistakes are always human mistakes. Surprised? Don’t be. Many pet owners get frustrated when puppies “have accidents” or grown dogs bark like crazy at the doorbell, while, in fact, these and other problems cannot be faulted on the animal. If people don’t know what they want their dog to do instead, like sitting instead of jumping, going to their bed (when the door opens) instead of bolting out the door, dig in a sandbox instead of the garden, chewing appropriate objects, etc., the dog can’t figure it out either.

Mistake #1: Not Socializing a Dog Properly

Everyone begins training a dog with a number of unknowns. First, no one can truly know how a dog will react to training and even if you know the breed, there can be differences with each individual breed. Another unknown is the type of dog training that you use. Some dogs do well with food based reinforcement and some do not and owners will need to learn as they go along. While most of the unknowns with dog training can be overcome quickly, many owners make some pretty common mistakes while they are training your dogs. To avoid those dog training mistakes, it is important to be aware of them and that is exactly what I will be doing in this article; alerting you to common dog training mistakes that every owner has or will make at one time.

You can feed your Golden Retriever high-quality commercial food, but the best way to provide a nutritious healthy diet is to combine both commercial food for dogs with fresh food for people. Whether dry or canned, most commercial dog food lacks the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that come with fresh food. Vets agree that fresh food is good for your dog, providing practice use moderation. Golden Retrievers love fresh food. They can smell it a mile away, and if it smells good, they’ll eat it!
